From a shipyard in Monfalcone
Italy
the Crown Princess has been taking shape over the last year. Though you would never know it from seeing construction photos
this massive body of steel beams will soon be sculpted into a luxury vessel boasting a list of firsts including innovative features
fresh amenities and new ports of call that will sail you off into the sunset of your choosing.

Several distinctive differences are noted about Crown Princess. Upon her maiden voyage in June 2006
she will be the first in the Princess Cruise fleet to sail roundtrip Caribbean itineraries from New York (Red Hook
which is located in Brookland). Unique destinations await passengers including the Eastern Caribbean port of Bermuda. Equally fascinating are the added ports of Grand Turk and the Turks and Caicos Islands which have been virtually undiscovered until now.

Along with the Grand Turks port comes 20 new shore excursions. As innovative as the port itself
adventures of all activity levels will be available to passengers from exhilarating Harley rides to relaxing super-sized pools.

According to Princess Cruise Line
Hop-On/Hop-Off Island Tours are first of their kind island tours that operate as a hop-on-hop-off tour which includes stops at a restored 1800s prison and a historic lighthouse.
Also available: Harleys In Paradise
where passengers to St. Maarten can tour the scenery on Harley-Davidson motorcycles; zip line tours amid the canopy of St. Lucia's tropical rainforests; river tubing on Grenada's Balthazar River and more.

If you think you've heard the name "Crown Princess" before
you are correct. Initially built in 1990 by controversial designer Renzo Piano
the original Crown Princess has been transferred to a sister cruise line where she serves under a different name. As for the new Crown Princess
she is totally redesigned with cruising in mind and features numerable amenities not found on other ships.

Onboard the Crown Princess you'll find more firsts including Movies Under the Stars - an exclusive to Princess Cruise Line - where you can view blockbuster hit films outdoors on a gigantic
300
square foot
LED screen. Passengers can make complimentary chaise lounge reservations for available features. Cocktail specials are available as well as free popcorn and other movie munchies. Atrium dining is also a specialty of Princess Cruises as well as Personal Choice Dining that allows you to choose seating at any restaurant at any time.

From exciting nightclubs to digital golf simulators and a nine-hole putting course
from four pools to a sports court and jogging track
you'll find something for everyone
including one of the largest casinos afloat.

Kids and teens even get their own special spaces with The Fun Zone
Off Limits Teen Center
a video arcade and the Chill Out splash pool. That's the perfect place for them to hang out while adults visit the Sanctuary - a quiet poolside area of the ship just for adults to relax and unwind.

According to Princess officials
Crown Princess' summer season will include 12 departures from New York between May 12 and September 6 on the Eastern Caribbean. Ports include Bermuda
San Juan
St. Thomas
St. Maarten and Grand Turk. In fact
her inaugural season is expected to be such a success that a second season in New York has already been slated.

Departing from New York in June 2006
the all-new Crown Princess offers a host of firsts designed to captivate passengers and provide exciting new adventures on and off the ship.

Compare Cruise Insurance You often get what you pay for

When planning a travel vacation or cruise vacation
the last thing that one wants to think about is trouble or cancellation. Thus travel and cruise insurance is often left on the back burner. However
when the time comes to purchase your vacation insurance
be sure that you compare cruise insurance and travel insurance policies to ensure that you are getting what you expect. As always
it’s “buyer beware”!

That’s not to say that all insurance policies and companies are out to deceive you or hide the terms of insurance pay-outs. In fact
most are very reputable. The problem comes when trying to economize while buying insurance. You really do “get what you pay for” in most cases – especially when you compare insurance policies.

There are often so many variables when purchasing cruise insurance or travel insurance that we can become somewhat complacent with what we are purchasing. Again
“Buyer Beware!” Make sure you know what’s available and what’s included in your insurance policy package. As an example
insurance companies like Travel Guard International
America’s largest provider of travel insurance offers a wide range of benefits with their Comprehensive Coverage. Included in Travel Guard’s packages are the following benefits:

ท Trip Cancellation – Providing reimbursement of 100% of trip cost if the trip is cancelled under the terms of the insurance policy.
ท Trip interruption – Providing reimbursement of trip cost if the trip is interrupted as covered by the insurance policy such as evacuation due to hurricane.
ท Trip Delay – Providing reimbursement for additional accommodations or travel expenses if the traveler is delayed for more than several hours.
ท Lost
Stolen or Damaged Baggage and travel documents – Providing reimbursements if luggage is lost
damaged or stolen while the insured is traveling
or if travel documents are lost or stolen.
ท Baggage Delay – Providing reimbursement for the purchase of essential items if your bags are delayed more than 24 hours.
ท Medical Expenses – Providing reimbursement for necessary medical expenses up to one year after the illness or injury providing the insured traveler sought medical treatment while on the trip.
ท Emergency Medical Transportation – Covering the cost of evacuation and transportation to the nearest adequate medical facility.
ท Travel Guard Assistance – A 24 hour hotline for emergency assistance
medical referrals
prescription replacement assistance
replacing travel documents and more.
ท Livetravel – Travel Guard’s round the clock travel agent service for emergency or last minute travel changes such as rebooking flights
arranging hotels and ground transportation and tracking lost luggage.
ท Concierge – 24 hour worldwide access to restaurant referrals/reservations
event tickets
tee times
floral services
ground transportation and more.

As well
in many cases
travelers purchasing Travel Guard insurance within 15 days of making their initial trip payment also receive at no additional cost:
ท Pre-Existing Medical Condition Exclusion Waiver – protection if pre-existing medical conditions force cancellation or interruption of a cruise or trip.
ท Default Protection – providing reimbursement of trip cost if the tour operator
cruise line
airline or other travel supplier declares bankruptcy more than seven days after the effective date of the policy.
ท Change Your Mind – protection against cancellation fees when a trip is cancelled for any reason.

Please keep in mind that these benefits are subject to change
but at the time of this printing
are available. The above describes a comprehensive cruise or travel insurance policy. However
as they say
one size dose not fit all. You need to match your coverage requirements and budget restraints. Again
dealing with Travel Guard International
some of their popular products include:

ท Cruise
Tour and Travel – Travel Guard’s most comprehensive travel insurance plan.
ท ProtectAssist – Solid travel insurance for the budget-conscious traveler – and Travel Guard’s most popular plan.
ท Cruise Guard – Travel insurance designed to surpass the protection plans offered by the cruise line.
ท Air Ticket Protection – Protects air ticket investment against change fees
adds other assistance services.
ท Student Travel Guard – A portfolio of student travel insurance plans protecting students on virtually all types from Spring Break to Semester Abroad.

We have identified
through the use of Travel Guard International’s plans and policies a vast number of cruise insurance options. We have stated before
but at the risk of being too repetitive
I think that it is important to re-iterate. “You get what you pay for. Buyer beware!”

Common Courtesy In Cruising

You don’t need a Miss Manners at sea to know there are some basic
common sense rules of etiquette for cruising. No
there is no handbook on it
but the key words here are “common sense.” For some less thoughtful folks onboard
taking a vacation means taking a break from using their brains.

Picture a cruise ship like a floating village or small town at sea. As with any unfamiliar place you go to
you should get to know the lay of the land
so to speak. No one is going to be just like you; people from all over the world
from different cultures and religions are sharing the same floating space as you are. Everyone should learn how to live in harmony for this short stay so that all of you will have the best vacation possible.

Some cruisers have been to their share of ports and know what to do. However
newbie’s need to pay some attention to their surroundings. Read the literature about the ship’s activities. And if there is any doubt about something
ask a member of the cruise ship’s personnel. Now
let’s talk about some of those unspoken shipboard “rules:”

Cool it with the complaints – You are on vacation! Nothing is more unattractive than a grown-up whining like a child over something like waiting in line. You know that saying “When in Rome?” Well
it is your vacation. No worries
no deadlines
no being late to anything … you’re on a ship and nothing on board is going anywhere. Say hi to the people next to you; challenge someone to a game of paper
scissors
rock to break up the monotony.

Respect the Dress Code Guidelines – Cruise ships will often post some clothing guidelines for dinner or live entertainment for that day. If you don’t follow the guidelines
you will not be thrown off the ship. However
you would feel mighty uncomfortable wearing your Bermuda shorts and flip flops to a semi-formal dinner or dance.

Say so long to the seat savers and line cutters- It is a bit exasperating to take the time to arrive at a decent hour to catch the next lounge act only to have a sea of coats draped over chairs and no bodies in the seats. And line cutters
shame on you. It is one thing for you to stand in line and have your spouse join you after a quick trip to the rest room. It is a whole new ballgame letting in your twenty newfound friends from the poker tables cut in line.

No hogging of the gym equipment/hot tub/lounge chairs/computers
etc. – There are possibly several thousand other people who at some point want to use stationary bike or hot tub privileges. Be mindful of others who are discreetly waiting without complaint for their turn.

Designated smoking areas – There are specific areas just for smokers on board. Do not be selfish and light up at the dining room table while others are eating. Here’s a big clue: if you see ash trays
you can light up.

These unspoken rules sound perfectly logical don’t they? Yet
some cruisers forget themselves in their quest for a good time and other people suffer for it. If you are unsure of something
ask. Let your common sense rule. And don’t worry
it won’t get in the way of your good time.

Cheap Cruise Holiday Summer Time Cruising Offers Fantastic Savings

It’s less than one month away before many kids and students will be out of school for the 2006 summer season
and if you don’t know exactly where to take your family this year for vacation
consider taking a cheap cruise holiday!

With gas prices going through the roof
many families may be reconsidering their vacation plans
and when you have been budgeting for your family trip
taking a cruise may be your best value for your buck.

Holidays are something we all look forward to
whether they’re for winter or summer
and when you finally have the time to take the entire family on a holiday
you want to have the best overall experience.

Finding A Cheap Holiday Is Easy If You Change Your Holiday!

Consider getting away from the traditional vehicle trip to the Theme Parks
or traditional annual camping trip! If you’re looking to do something different this year
and you live in a cruise port city that offers many exciting cruises on select cruise ships to the Caribbean or Mexico
you may be pleasantly surprised on the cruise prices and the incredible discounts they offer for the summer season.

You and your family can enjoy an inclusive cruising experience and voyage to many exotic islands
Mexican historical cities and more! Even though this is your vacation
it can also be an educational experience for the children and you as well.

For The Price of A Road Trip You Can Easily Cruise In Exotic Vacation Style!

Many cruise lines like Carnival
Norwegian
and Royal Caribbean offer deep summer discounts to the Caribbean and Mexican destinations
and with summer being their low season
families can take advantage of these savings. With that in mind
families and individuals that live near a cruise port
virtually everything is covered in your cruise package
such as your accommodations
most if not all meals and beverages
and fantastic daily and nightly entertainment.

For families that don’t live in a city with access to a cruise port
summer deals from cruise companies usually provide extremely low airfare cruise packages
that can easily cost less than your Theme Park family vacation!

If you don’t believe me
consider the fact that once you get to the Theme Parks of your choice
you have to think about your vehicle transportation to and from your hotel if you are far from the park property
plus all your meals
beverages
and entertainment costs for the entire family. These expenses can add up very quickly
and in most cases are very difficult to budget for on vacation
because the saying goes
“when you’re on vacation
you normally spend more than you budget for in the beginning.”

With summer cruising
you arrive on the ship
your bags are taken directly to your room by the ship’s courteous staff
and all you have to do is get ready to hit the cruise ship’s spectacular buffet prior to leaving your port to the first exciting destination on your cruising itinerary.

If You Think The Kids Will Be Bored While Cruising
Think Again!

Even though cruise destinations are the highlight of any cruising vacation
many families and individuals love to take cruises because of all the fun activities they offer
and while on board your ship
you and your children will have no problem finding things to do.

Cruise ships provide some of the best entertainment and kids services in the vacation market
and they cater to everyone including adults and your children alike! While you’re dreaming about the first exotic beach you will be arriving on shortly
the cruise ship has exciting and fun things to do that range from a variety of kids activities
outdoor sports competitions
to a variety of theme parties for all ages.

As your children are completely occupied
you can relax by the pool
or take in the many daily features such as Bingo
Casino
and even a therapeutic massage in their spa. When you start to miss the kids
all of you can meet to take in a fabulous lunch buffet and get re-fuelled for the rest of the day’s events that you can choose to take part in or not.

Remember this
when you plan your summer vacation you can truly have a family experience to remember when selecting a cruise vacation
and with the savings you will experience
you and your family won’t be talking this year about the hot dog that fell off the grill
or the fish that got away again. This summer you will be discussing how exciting it was to see the Mexican Mayan Ruins and all the other fabulous places
how delicious the gourmet cheesecake was for desert
and your family will be laughing all day about dad winning the belly flop contest at the ship’s poolside this year!

Celebrity Cruises Your Most Wonderful Vacations.

Sunday 6 September 2009

Why Take a Celebrity Cruise Vacation? Well
with all the cruise lines available
all the cruise destinations
and the range of prices
there are cruises to please every traveller
no matter how jaded.

In our fast-paced society
it's an very cost-effective and time-efficient way to take a holiday. Think about the time involved in driving yourself to many different destinations
packing and unpacking at every hotel
and trying to find restaurants and personal services. On a cruise you don’t drive anywhere for 7
10
14
days or even more. Even if you were on a bus tour with someone else doing the driving
you haul around your suitcases and repack it all at each new destination. On a cruise
you check your luggage when you check in and it automatically appears in your cabin
stateroom
or suite. You're at home and don't have to pack for the duration of the cruise. And the food is legendary! Each ship has many restuarants staffed by world-class chefs
and the cost of the food is included in the cost of the cruise. At every port
guided tours are available so you won't miss any of the local attractions. You won't have to mind your children constantly
either. Supervised activities like water skiing are available to keep them occupied. And at the end of your holidy staff will retrieve your luggage and place it on shore at the intended pick-up point. Taking a cruise vacation frees you from so many of the worries associated with traveling
and leaves you with even more time to relax and enjoy your destination.

Celebrity Cruise Lines offers the most competitive deals in the travel industry. Conde Nast Traveler consistently rates Celebrity Cruises as one of the world's best cruise ship lines. Services include informative lectures about your location
upscale boutiques
and Las Vegas style entertainment created for Celebrity by Cirque du Soleil. Try your luck in the Casino or even collect fine art at an onboad auction. Enjoy exotic nightlife at The Bar At The Edge of the Earth.

There's an overdose of pampering awaiting you at the world-famous Aqua-Spa by Elemis. Try a deluxe manicure
a luxurious facial or even a relaxing massage. Celebrity offers acupuncture by a licensed acupuncturist and Chinese medicine as well. You'll feel renewed and invigorated.

But Celebrity isn't just for the grown-ups. Kids feel right at home on these cruises. The Celebrity X-Club Youth Program has age-specific activities and entertainment for each age group. Science and nature exploration
talent shows
treasure hunts
children's dinner parties
slumber parties and a lot more are all arranged by professional staff. Favorite areas of the ship are set aside for the younger seafaring set only
like the Shipmates Fun Factory
teen center and pools. When the ship is docked
adults have the option of going on cultural tours by themselves without bored children tagging along. And the children can enjoy vigorous
noisy activities without wearing out the parents. What a relief for both generations!

Age or disability do not hamper cruising. Ships are designed for mobility-impaired passengers
and staff is always ready to help with passengers' medical needs. Celebrity Cruise Lines accommodates those who want dialysis or supplemental oxygen
and more medical services can be arranged if requested beforehand. Emergency care is always available on board
saving you the trouble of finding a doctor who speaks your language in a foreign country.

Dinner is a vital event in itself on a cruise ship
a tradition dating back to the late 1800’s when cruises were for royalty and the wealthy who expected elegant formal dinners. Again
in today’s lifestyle the elegant dinner is optional
and for those who like to dine casually
food is available around the clock from cafeterias and room service . All the same
for those who like a ritzy event where they can show off their best attire and jewelry
there are optional formal dinners where ladies put on long formal evening dresses and gentlemen have on tuxedos.

And don't forget the cruise destination itself! Celebrity Cruises dock at a different port of call every few days
depending upon distances and sailing time between points of interest. You are able to stay aboard the ship all day or go ashore. You are free to investigate each destination on your itinerary as long as you return to the ship in time for departure.

Optional activities are offered for a slight extra cost
and Celebrity offers adventures geared toward the unique features of every destination. As an illustration
Caribbean cruises offer snorkeling
diving or even beach excursions while Alaskan cruises offer helicopter tours or even sea kayaking. For the less adventuresome
normally there are bus tours or supervised shopping excursions in the local port. Each and every detail
including meals
is prearranged. All you have to do is line up at the correct spot onshore and an let anexperienced tour guide look after everything else.

With all these unique and wonderful services available at such a reasonable price
why not think about a Celebrity Cruise for your next vacation?

Celebrity Century Emerges From Dry Dock Ready To Provide Five-Star Service

ฉ 2006
All Rights Reserved

On May 30
2006
Celebrity Century emerged from a five-week dry dock in which she underwent an aggressive restoration. Sailing since 1995
the goal of the revamp was to bring Century up to date and make her more luxurious than ever. Many favorites that are currently found on newer Celebrity ships were added to Century's deck plan
and some additional surprises were also incorporated.

New Dining Options

Most notably
a new dining option was added to Century: Murano. Adorned with sparkling chandeliers handcrafted from Murano glass in jewel-toned colors
Murano bears a theme exploration of the New World.

Michel Roux is the culinary mastermind behind Murano and its first-at-sea tableside cooking
carving and flamb้. The entire setting will be one that sets passengers' senses on edge as they see
smell and taste the experience.

Grand Restaurant has received a thorough refurbishment and recaptured an essence of grandeur
glamour and sophistication. A favorite of most diners who sailed onboard Century prior to her makeover
Grand Restaurant has retained her dedication to impeccable service and truly world-class menus.

Another first for Celebrity is the addition of a 76-seat sushi bar. Many guests will want to indulge in this popular form of dining
and they can do so in an atmosphere specifically created to reflect the Asian trends.

Improved and Expanded Staterooms

Century now boasts an additional 314 verandahs
14
new suites
10
new staterooms and 174 more Concierge Class category staterooms. Passengers will also find attentive touches
including fresh-cut flowers
upgraded bathrooms and personalized stationery. (Amenities are dependent on cabins.) Staterooms also now offer in-cabin wireless Internet service - a lifesaver for those who simultaneously work and play.

Popular Onboard Activities

A golf simulator can be found onboard Century for those who can't get enough of hitting that little white ball. Enclosed for comfort and safety
guests can look out over the open sea as they practice their drives.

Enrichment Programs will continue on Century
offering passengers a wide range of exceptional opportunities to learn about such topics as astronomy
journalism
wine tasting
cooking
acting and much more.

Of course
the long-standing favorites including swimming pools
spas
athletic clubs
dance clubs
martini and other specialty bars
and much more are available aboard Century.

The new
improved Century is currently sailing to Europe
the Baltic and the Mediterranean. Beginning in November 2006
Century will add another first: short cruises of four and five nights through the Caribbean
departing from Miami
Florida.

Keeping everything that was loved about Century and adding innovative
exciting new features
restaurants and amenities will make this $55 million renovation worth every penny to those who book passage.

Caribbean Cruise Vacations

There are a multitude of cruises available that cover the Eastern
Western and Southern islands inch by inch. The various liners offer everything in comfort and luxury. They provide for every mood and every desire that one may wish for on board and at the various ports of call
ensure that the visitors get to cover every aspect in great detail. The administration leaves nothing to chance and the traveler gets full value for the money spent.

While working out details for a vacation
most people take into consideration a few key points such as “when” “where” “how” “for how long” and most importantly
the finances involved. December to April is considered peak tourist season for the Caribbean. It plunges to an all time low around fall and spring. September and October come under hurricane season and you do not want to be caught in one! So
early November and early December are most likely the cheapest for tourists with budget constraints.

The “where” aspect of your holiday depends on what you would like to see… be it historical sites or water sports.

The “how” aspect would most likely be decided by your budget and the type of liner you would prefer. First time sailors might enjoy shorter cruises and they might be able to squeeze in more places in the same amount of time. Find out details about life on board like meal times and whether you have the freedom to adjust your schedules. Some liners have set patterns. Find out the ship’s sailing program if site seeing is your main agenda. Some offer so much on board it takes on a life of its own. Read your guide carefully and book your trips so you do not lose out on what really interests you. Most trips are conducted by local agencies so advance booking might be a good idea.

Your budget must cater to tipping
mini site seeing tours conducted by local agencies
overheads
extra fees if you have children
and a small budget for emergencies. Fares can swing from $150 to upward of $1000 depending on what type of accommodation you are looking for.

So go ahead enjoy all that nature has to offer in the shape of the Caribbean and come away with an experience never to be forgotten.

Caribbean Cruise Choosing The Line That Fits You

Tuesday 1 September 2009

A longed for retreat is shared in the bright days of Caribbean. The beaches
the foods and all! What more would you ask?

The Caribbean is among the most in demand tourist spots in the world. So it is not surprising to see millions of vacationers flocking the Caribbean Islands.

Caribbean cruises are very popular as well. Cruising along the islands give vacationers the rare chance of exploring the entire wonders of this top class destination. Added to it are the fun that cruising entails; leisure at ones fingertips and luxury on the other.

Planning to go aboard a Caribbean Cruise is much easier compared to the hassles back then. Most Caribbean cruises have online portals
which make them easier to reach. Tour planners are sure to help you in your schemes with just a click of the button. They provide help that would be more than welcome especially on vacation periods when tourists abound.

While there may be a number of Caribbean cruises available at any time of the year
vacation periods are expected to be booked much earlier than normal. This then can make accommodations a challenge. You can access their web portals online and book instantly. However
you also must be choosy in the Caribbean cruise that you would want to book into.

The competition for taking the most number of passengers seems to be the ultimate motto for all cruise liners. In here
don't get trapped with the confusion of the game. Evaluate your purpose.

First
are you traveling with the family? Then it wise that you take a Caribbean cruise that will accommodate the youngest member up to the oldest of your party.

Check the facilities available. There are cruises that have equipments for childcare while there are those that does not have any.

Check also their programs for young adults and elders. With this
it would be a great idea to go on deck a Disney Cruise line where especially designed activities are made for both toddlers and teenagers. There are also themed presentations that focus on family.

Traveling on a budget? Caribbean cruises can also accommodate you with lines of medium-priced ships. However for those traveling without their minds on spending money
you will be amazed by the selections of cruises that will give you the best of everything
except only the entire sea! Take note of liners
which give high-end accommodations like the Queen Mary II or the Silversea.

Yet
prior to any decision it is wise to get as much information as you would prefer to really know the differences of each cruise.

Can Kids Cruise Too

What is the best way to travel with your kids to exotic or unusual destinations without dealing with multiple plane rides and dragging luggage day after day? Go on a cruise! Kids can definitely cruise
especially these days. Kids are big business and cruise lines
more and more
are catering to the younger crowd.

Research the various cruise lines. Ask your local travel agent for ideas. Many cruise ships allow children
but may not necessarily cater to their needs and interests. The great thing about cruises is that families can hang out
spend some quality time together and do a ton of activities all in one spot. It’s a relatively stress-free time because the kids can’t wander off … you know they are somewhere on the ship.

When traveling with the family
you are always conscious of your budget. One reason cruises are becoming more popular is because of the cost. For one price
you get food
transportation
accommodations
great entertainment
many ship activities and special programs just for kids. Also
there are often cruising specials where kids can cruise for free.

Cruise ships offer a secure place for kids to have fun and play while the parents partake of the ship’s many adult activities. Child care is taken care of and many times the cruise ship will offer beepers for kids and parents to keep track of each other. Youth counselors (sort of like the counselors you get at a summer camp) are on board to keep children active with many activities like crafts
sports
movies and more.

If you are unsure what the cruise line offers for children
there are a few basic questions you can ask your local travel agent. First of all
are there age restrictions? As with other businesses that offer discounts for smaller children
does yours meet the criteria for any price breaks? Do the ship destinations have activities suited for kids? Are there any special activities for kids?

If you have small children
be sure to ask if there are cribs or beds available for youngsters. How big are the cabins? This is a deciding factor on if you should try and book two cabins that have adjoining doors. Are there menus designed specifically for kids? Sometimes
ships may have several dining times. Ask if there is a certain dining hour that is best for families with children.

Availability of children’s activities could be a deciding factor on booking a cruise. What kind of activities are there for kids? Will there be lifeguards specifically for the children? Do kids have their own pool to swim in? Check into babysitting services and any extra fees. Parents may want to take a break from the kids and have a dinner date alone or go dancing.

Before making a decision
do your homework on what the best cruise is for your family. Keep the timing of your family vacation in mind as well. Spring breaks and other holidays from school are busy periods for a cruise line. If you want to set sail during one of these times
you may have to book up to a year in advance. Once you get on that ship however
be prepared to leave your worries behind and have fun with your kids.

Cabin Pressure Which One For Your Cruise

Sunday 30 August 2009

For three
five
seven or however many days
the ship’s cabin will be your second home. Depending on your plans for rest and relaxation
you might want to give some thought to your choice of cabins. If you plan to be on the go
go
go and partake of all the ship has to offer
then pay for the cheapest cabin rate. After all
you will only be in your cabin to sleep and change your clothes. However
if you need to be alone and plan to huddle in your cabin at times
reconsider your options.

All cruise cabins are created for comfort with a sensible design where you can move with ease. Nonetheless
all cruise cabins are not the same. Your normal
average cruise ship cabin is going to be smaller that what you would find at some landlocked hotel. To compensate for the size
cruise lines spoil the passengers with mints on their pillows
shampoos
bath gel
fluffy robes and other amenities.

The cruise ship cabins were designed to make the best of the least amount of space possible. Sure some cabins have more room than others
but in any case
not a square inch is wasted. The cruise literature depicts a roomy cabin but that is just trick photography. The furnishings are utilitarian
but attractive. There is often a queen or king sized bed that could be broken down into twin beds if you were traveling with a companion other than a spouse or significant other. A closet or wardrobe is also in the cabin with a desk
bathroom
shower and chair. Depending on the size of your cabin
you might even have a little nook with a small couch and table.

Inside cabins tend to be the most economical. If you do not mind not having any windows or portholes to see outside
then this might be the choice for you. Inside cabins are usually about the same size as the outside cabins. It does tend to be darker when you have an inside cabin
so keep that in mind.

Outside cruise ship cabins have a window or a few portholes
which allow the sunshine to come into your cabin. If you are susceptible to claustrophobia and the thought of an inside cabin with no window gives you the shakes
book an outside cabin.

If enjoying the ocean views in the privacy of your own cabin is a must
consider booking an outside cabin with a balcony or terrace. This option is pricier
but it gives you a private view of the ocean with your own little deck.

If you have the expendable cash and want the “ooh-la-la” factor
consider the cruise ship suite option. Just picture the usual amenities along with some excess square footage. You definitely have room to maneuver! You’ll have extras like a mini-refrigerator and a private veranda.

The only thing about booking a cabin is that you cannot pick what part of the ship you want. You pay the going rate for the kind of cabin you want and hope for the best when it comes to its location like being near elevators or the bow are of the ship. If you are worried about seasickness
request a cabin on the lower decks. You may not be able to be accommodated
but it never hurts to ask. Just remember to keep in mind why you are on the cruise in the first place. Choose the best type of cabin for your needs and enjoy your cruising experience.

Brooklyn New York Opens Its First Cruise Ship Port

ฉ 2006
All Rights Reserved

In 2003
New York announced the grand opening of a new alternative port for cruise lines. Because ports in Florida were becoming more and more crowded
additional docking facilities in interesting cities on the Eastern Seaboard were needed to provide cruise lines with a new home port. The port has been wildly popular. So much so that another has been added in nearby Brooklyn.

The Red Hook terminal in a neighborhood in Brooklyn opened in April 2006 and welcomed its first permanent resident
Cunard's Queen Mary 2 (formerly docked in Manhattan). Located on the Buttermilk Channel
the Brooklyn terminal gave the first increase in New York cruise ship pier capacity in over 30 years. With the likes of Cunard and Princess cruise lines as eager residents
the terminal has already become a success. Most other major cruise lines have also assigned vessels to sail from Brooklyn.

Princess Cruise lines will launch the Crown Princess from the Brooklyn dock in June 2006 for a Caribbean cruise. From June to October
Princess will offer numerous Caribbean tours
including calls on ports in popular destinations such as the Virgin Islands
Grand Turk and Jamaica. Star Princess will begin cruises from Brooklyn in October 2006 visiting ports up and down the New England and Canadian seacoast.

But Brooklyn? It doesn't seem like the most exciting location for a cruise ship port. On the contrary. While not normally publicized as a vibrant city with plenty to do
Brooklyn offers cruisers an opportunity to spend a few days in New York before or after their tour.

Very similar to Manhattan
Brooklyn offers a trendy nightlife as well as diverse cultures and eclectic cuisine. Bars
clubs and restaurants line the streets
offering a tremendous variety of options for visitors and locals alike.

If culture is your thing
Chinatown is always a wonderful experience. In addition
Flatbush offers the largest Caribbean population in the United States. In either place
you'll delight in the authentic sights
sounds and tastes on every corner.

With spectacular views of many popular attractions
including the Brooklyn Bridge and the Statue of Liberty
the Red Hook terminal also offers exciting options for sightseers. However
New York City is just a short cab ride away and opens a virtual treasure trove of attractions
shows
museums and affairs.

Overall
Brooklyn offers greater value (with lower rates on hotels) and a central location
making it a wonderful choice for both vacationers and the cruise lines. If New York is closer for you than Florida
or if you've been longing to visit the Big Apple
consider booking your next cruise from the Red Hook terminal in Brooklyn. Your travel agent will have a complete listing of which cruise lines sail from Red Hook and the destinations available.

Booking A Cruise Vacation

Saturday 22 August 2009

Cruises are the most versatile of vacations no matter what your age. Not only that
it's a great way to bring the whole family but still have time alone with your spouse while the kids-only activity coordinators take charge of your children's fun.

The first step to putting together a great cruise vacation is to find yourself a travel agency that specializes in cruises
or to book directly through a cruise vacation Internet site.

Before you contact the travel agent though you need to determine when you're going
where you're going and from which port you'll depart and to which you'll return.

There are some seasonal rules of thumb about your destination. If you're limited in the time of year you can get away then you're also somewhat limited in your destination. You can't
for instance
cruise the Kenai Peninsula of Alaska any time during the summer. Europe has about the same seasonal restriction as well. If you're planning on heading out in the spring or fall you might want to consider an excursion up and down the Panama Canal. Just about any time of year
including the winter
you can cruise to Asia or the Caribbean.

Determine who is going to go with you. Knowing if children or seniors will be a part of your vacation group will effect which trip offers the best choices of entertainment for your party. In fact
it's best to gather everyone together
or conduct a phone or e-mail discussion of what everyone wants to do. You need to know if crafts are important; how many are going to lounge by the pool; who wants to get off and explore at the first land stop; who prefers exotic locations and who'd rather just play shuffleboard.

The size of the ship can be important as well. Larger ships have a vast variety of entertainment options
such as dancing and stage shows
although smaller ships may provide a lower guest to staff ratio
and thus more personal attention to your needs.

Know how much you and the others can spend. If money is a critical factor look for discounts for booking early
or starting out on a different day or different week from your original request. Staying flexible can save you considerable money. Ask about port fees as well. These are not usually included in the quoted cruise cost and may cost you dearly. You'll also be expected to tip room stewards and wait staff.

If you're not going as a large group and you might be interested in getting to know your fellow passengers then be sure and inquire about the usual demographics of these travelers. If you're 20 something and it's a baby boomer cruise you're apt to be bored. If you bring your grade schoolers and most of the other kids are in their teens they won't have enough playmates and you'll be their entertainment for the extent of the cruise.

One very important inquiry to make of your travel agent as well is the formality of the cruise that you're considering. If you show up with a suitcase full of swimsuits
shorts and sunscreen only to find out formal dress is required at dinner you're going to be embarrassed or hungry the entire excursion.

Book A Cruise For Less

So you’ve always wanted to take a dream cruise vacation. Maybe it’s one of those things that wound up on the back burner
but you’ve started to believe that you just won’t be able to save up the money to take yourself and the spouse
or the whole family
on such a trip. Think again.

The cruise industry is growing faster than ever
and with this huge expansion comes more opportunities to save money on special cruise deals. With more vacationers taking to the seas cruise lines are growing larger and can afford to offer special discounts to customers to get more people hooked on this luxury style of vacationing. Those looking for a cruise vacation can make a few smart decisions and save themselves a lot of cash without much sacrifice.

The first step is to look into theme packages. Many cruises offer special discounts for certain lifestyles or age groups. There may be a family discount
a golden years discount
or a honeymoon discount available. Depending on what type of cruise you want and who’s going with you
this can be a huge money-saver if you’re willing to accept what is offered in the packaged deal.

When it comes time to book your cruise
believe it or not
don’t be too hasty. Many cruise lines receive unexpected cancellations at the last minute
and are eager to fill the empty slots. A would-be vacationer can often get extremely good deals if their schedule allows them to wait until the last minute to book. Call a cruise line days before a ship sets sail
and you might be pleasantly surprised by what you hear regarding discount rates for last-minute trips.

If you find a cruise line that you like
consider booking any future cruise vacations with the same line. Many cruise lines give discounts to repeat customers and you will probably receive a good percentage off your rate if you book a cruise at the same time each year with the same company. Talk to a travel agent who specializes in cruises. Often these agents can get you deals as well
especially with cruise lines they book often. By booking through an experienced travel agent you may earn the instant right to be a preferred customer.

Finally
do your research! There are many sites online for discount cruise fares
just as there are for airfares and other types of travel. Some websites specialize in locating cheap cruises for those who wish to vacation on a budget. Make use of a search engine
and don’t get discouraged… your cheap cruise is out there somewhere. The trick is using resources and a little brain work to find it.

Biggest Cruise Ship For 6400 Friends

Thursday 20 August 2009

Miami-based Royal Caribbean International
the world's second-largest cruise line
announced on February 6
2006
that it had ordered the largest and most expensive cruise ship in the world
a $1.24 billion vessel which can hold up to 6
400
passengers. It is to be named Project Genesis.

This ship
which is scheduled to be completed in the fall of 2009 by shipbuilder Aker Yards of Oslo
will be 220
0
gross register tons. A gross register ton
a standard measure of a ship's size
is a unit of volume equal to about 100 cubic feet. It is to be built at a Finnish shipyard.

Aker is to be paid 900 million euros ($1 billion) to build the ship
making Project Genesis the most expensive ship ever ordered in the history of commercial shipbuilding. The $1.24 billion figure includes all expenses required for interior finishing of the ship. Royal Caribbean contract with Aker includes an option for a second ship.

Richard Fain
the chairman and chief executive of Royal Caribbean said of Project Genesis
It is exhilarating to take such a giant step into the future. Project Genesis truly is a remarkable ship. Its bold design, daring innovation and technological advancements will delight our existing customers and help us draw in new ones.

Aker Yards Finland currently builds Royal Caribbean's "Freedom" class vessels. However
the Project Genesis ship will be 43 percent larger than the present recordholder
Freedom of the Seas
which is currently under construction and scheduled to be finished by April 2006.

The biggest ship currently in operation is the Queen Mary 2
at 151
400
gross register tons. It is owned by the Cunard Line
a unit of the Carnival Corporation
which is the world's largest cruise ship company. The British-registered liner is 1
132
feet long
more than 236 feet high
and can hold 2
620
passengers. The QM2 is capable of crossing the North Atlantic at a speed of 30 knots. The 14-day 2004 maiden voyage from Southampton
in southern England
to Fort Lauderdale
Florida on January 12
2004
was completely sold out months before departure.

The QM2 has 17 decks which hold five swimming-pools
sweeping staircases
a grand ballroom
a 360-degree promenade deck and many luxury shops. Cunard Line built the ship in hope of reviving the glamour of ocean liners
whose mystique has largely been dispelled since jet travel made trips across the Atlantic routine.

A one-way passage from Southampton to New York ranges from $1
817
to $28
0
per person
depending on the type of cabin selected
as well as a daily service charge.

The original Queen Mary was launched in 1934 at Southampton by the queen's grandmother -- Queen Mary
wife of King George V. This ship was slightly more than half the size of the new model. In the second World War
both the Queen Mary and its sister ship
Queen Elizabeth
were painted grey and served as troopships
since they were fast enough to outrun German U-boats. Winston Churchill later stated that the military use of these two ships shortened the war by a year.

The ship was retired in 1967 and sold to private investors. It is now docked permanently as a seaside hotel in Long Beach
California.

The QM2 took the title of world's largest cruise liner from Royal Caribbean's 1
20
foot-long Liberia-registered "Voyager of the Seas
launched in 1999.

As a sign of just how much passenger ships have increased in size during this century, the QM2 is three times the size of the Titanic, which at 46,300 tons and 800 feet was called the
largest movable object built by man" when launched in 1911. However
all the giant cruise ships are comparatively tiny compared to the largest of all ships - a 564
700
supertanker Seawise Giant built in 1979
and now called Jahre Viking.

A ship still in the planning stage would dwarf all current sea-going vessels : the Freedom Ship. It is essentially a plan for a floating city
a giant barge that would slowly circle the globe every 2-3 years. At 4
320
feet (1
317
meters) long
725
feet (221 m) wide and 340 feet (103 m) tall
the ship is taller than the length of a football field and wider than two football fields put together.

It would hold 18
0
condominium units for full-time residents ranging from $180
0
to $2.5 million
including a small number of premium suites priced up to $44 million. 3
0
commercial units for vendors would also be offered in a similar price range. For part-time residents
there will be 2
400
time-share units and 10
0
hotel units. It will also hold a casino
a ferryboat transportation system
a medical facility offering both Western and Eastern medicine as well as preventive and anti-aging medicine. A landing strip for small jets will cover the top. An onboard school will give students a chance to take a field trip into a different country each week for academic purposes or to compete with local schools in sporting events. There will also be an International Trade Center to give on-board companies and shops the opportunity to show and sell their products in a different country every week. More than 100 acres of outdoor Park
Recreation
Exercise and Community space have also been planned.

Norman Nixon
who developed the idea for the massive ship
has estimated it will take approximately three years to complete once construction begins. So far
this ambitious project has not been able to attract sufficient investment funds to get off the drawing board.

The fact remains that over 90% of cruise reservations are done through a travel agent
and you’re not only at the mercy of their service fees
but also to the prices they charge for a particular cruise and sailing. So why do so many individuals go through this booking avenue
when they know the deals are far better online
and they have access to a computer and the Internet?

The answers simple! The cruise industry believes that customers new and seasoned may not truly understand the cruise ships industry language
or feel comfortable booking online! They put their dependency on many travel professionals to interpret the cruising lingo that is the integral part of the cruise booking process.

However
if you take the time to learn and understand the cruise lines language such as guaranteed staterooms
singles supplement
or run-of-the-ship
you should have no worries booking your next vacation cruise online
and start taking advantage of all the fantastic savings!

Booking Cruise Travel Over The Internet Is Simple and Easier Than You Think!

When you’re searching the Internet to find a cruise special
keep in mind that if you go direct to the main cruise lines site
such as Royal Caribbean
Carnival
or Princess
you may end up paying a higher cabin price than the online cruise discounters
even though they may be showing reduced cabin prices on their sites.

In order to get the best discounts
you should source large vacation suppliers such as Travelocity
Expedia
or exclusive cruise booking sites like CruiseDirect.com
which specialize in selling cruises
and offer a unique booking engine that can quickly put together your cruise package in minutes.

Why go through these online cruise specialists
and travel suppliers?

Even though the cruise lines want to deal with you directly
they also need to keep a solid business relationship with their travel agencies that are currently booking a majority of cruises for them though their local offices and online vacation websites.

With online travel suppliers and Internet cruise company’s
they deal with the cruise lines a little differently
and they either pre-purchase cabins at a very low discounted price
or they’re large enough to be directly linked to the cruiselines inventory database system. They are also capable of receiving live updated stateroom information daily
and in most cases hourly! With this powerful online system
they can take these updated cabin inventory deals
and pass them directly to the consumer
which offers you the consumer far deeper discounted savings!

What this means to you
is that once you understand what these suppliers are offering
you will have a better chance of reserving your favourite cruise in minutes and take advantage of the incredible discounts that could easily range from 20% - 60%
depending on the seasonality
type of itinerary
and actual cruise ship you book.

Just make sure that before you make any reservations online
that if you have any doubts
or understanding what your booking
contact the customer service departments via their toll-free numbers
or the cruise lines email
and they will be more than happy to answer any questions you may have prior to booking your next cruise vacation.

Been There Done That Cruising Tips From Seasoned Travelers

Tuesday 18 August 2009

If you are cruising for the first time – congratulations! You are in for a unique
worthwhile experience. As a newbie
though
you probably have questions about some of the do’s and don’ts of traveling aboard a cruise ship. Luckily
there are many die-hard cruisers who are happy to share some tips to make your first time more rewarding.

Before You Leave Home:

Have a friend or neighbour take in your mail daily. Accumulating mail is a big sign to thieves and other troublemakers that no one is home. You could also have your mail held at the post office until you return.

Set your lights on timers so that it appears someone is home to deter troublemakers. Tell your neighborhood community patrol to make a few extra passes by your home while you are away.

Preprint labels and stamps if you plan to mail postcards out while you are on your cruise. This saves some time and you won’t have to lug around an awkward address book.

Money Matters:

Stock up on traveler’s checks since they are replaceable if lost or stolen. To expedite the replacements should your traveler’s checks be lost or stolen
write down the serial numbers and put them in a safe and separate place. That way
it makes the bank’s job a little easier and speed up the process for your replacements.

Keep a handy supply of small denominational bills
usually one’s and five’s. Tipping is appreciated for porters and stewards at both the airport and docking pier of the ship. This is especially important in foreign countries. Horror stories abound about stolen or “lost” bags that never make it to the ship. Sometimes
you have got to grease their palms with cash. It’s a small price to pay for having your clothing and toiletries aboard for your cruise.

To avoid long lines at the end of your cruise
check out your ending invoice on your account. Check for any errors and resolve them as soon as possible. There is no sense adding the stress of standing in line to pay your final tab after you just had a relaxing vacation.

Take a few rubber bands with you to wrap around your wallet. The rubber will “grab” onto your clothing. This makes it very difficult for a pickpocket to part with your wallet without you feeling it.

Kid Stuff:

If you are traveling with babies or toddlers
paper throwaway bibs are perfect for protecting your child from stains and messes at meal times
thus prolonging the wear of their clothing.

Bring a collapsible stroller for your young child. The cruise ship is a happening place and before long you will hear the strains of “I’m tired! Carry me!” This is exhausting to parents. With a stroller
you can just pop your kid inside and roll on.

Pack a few portable
self contained snacks for your child like peanut butter or cheese crackers. These will come in handy and are much cheaper than buying some once you are cruising or at port.

Odds and Ends:

Throw inside your suitcase a few of those annoying plastic shopping bags that you usually get from the grocery store. These are handy for storing dirty clothing.

If you have an inside cabin
take a nightlight with you. Darkness is not fun when you are in a strange room. No sense running into walls or stubbing your toe if you can avoid it. Little maglight keychain flash lights are handy too.

Bring a little first aid kits for those minor emergencies. Wet wipes are handy too for those instance were a sink isn’t handy.

There are literally hundreds of cruise tips that can save the sanity of newbie travelers. Think of those little shortcuts or ideas that you use at home. Decide if they are adaptable to the cruise ship. The less you have to worry about
the more relaxed you will be after your cruise.

Be Afraid. Be Very Afraid Matey the Origin of Pirate Flags

Although the origin of the pirate flag is unknown
it is generally thought that it was invented to strike fear in the hearts and minds of their enemies. The pirate flag
or “Jolly Roger” as it often called
was likely intended to scare their potential victims into a speedy surrender.

The origins of the name “Jolly Roger” are difficult to establish. It is likely derived from the fact that devil was often referred to as “Old Roger”
and so the flag suggested the wrath of the devil. The classic skull and bones design was also often used in the Captain’s log to indicate the death of a sailor. This flag was an important part of the pirate’s armory
and is considered one of the earliest forms of psychological warfare.

In popular legend
it seems that every pirate flag consisted of a skull above two crossed bones. This was generally not the case
as the Captain and his crew often wanted their own flag. While it is true that most pirate flags had the skull and crossbones on them
they often had other images such as skeletons
swords
hourglasses
goblets
and hearts.

One of the most famous pirates was “Black Bart”
otherwise known as Bartholomew Roberts. He was originally from Wales
and in his 4 year career captured well over 400 ships and accumulated incredible wealth. It is said that he was a brilliant
fearless
and innovative seaman. His fleet scoured the seas looking for treasure
and he inspired fear and dread in governments and citizens alike.

The governments of the Caribbean islands of Barbados and Martinique were keen to see an end to his seafaring activities. In 1720
“Black Bart” captured the governor of Martinique and hung him from the mast of his ship. The flag he would fly represented the personal vendetta he had against the islands and its inhabitants. His flag consisted of an image of a man (presumably Bart) with a flaming sword in hand
standing with a skull under each foot. The letters “ABH” and “AMH” were inscribed under the skulls
and stood for “A Bahamian’s Head” and “A Martinicans Head”.

Be afraid. Be very afraid.

Antarctic Cruise - An Adventure Vacation For Everybody

If you really want to get away from it all
think about a cruise to Antarctica.

Underneath the ice at the South Pole is a land mass that used to be much nearer the equator
where it was forested with a normal variety of animal life. AS the continent drifted south
at a rate of centimetres a century
the species living there evolved to cope with the changing climate.

Those animals still live there. The continent
or at least the Southern Ocean surrounding it are teeming with wildlife. This is the only place on Earth where wild animals have not learnt to be afraid of humans
meaning that you can get really close to these animals in their natural habitat.

This area may not be inhabited by many people but there is an enormous variety of wildlife
including various species of whales
seals and sea-lions. You will see Rockhopper penguins
Magellanic penguins
Adelie
Chinstrap
Gentoo and King penguins. For those interested in flying birds there are Albatross
Kelp Gulls and Terns.

Most people are interested in seeing Orca
killer whales
and this is certainly an impressive species
especially when seen in family groups.

An Antarctic cruise will enable you to see the Antarctic coastline and visit some of the islands of the Southern Ocean. Many of these islands have only a very small human population
others are uninhabited (by people anyway.) The silence away from the ship is simply stunning.

Visit the graves of some of the early Antarctic explorers such as Shackleton and venture amongst the islands and icebergs in a Rigid Inflatable Zodiac Boat (RIB).

That's just the activities OFF the ship. Of course you have the normal exciting cruise ship lifestyle on board
with all luxuries available. No ordinary cruise this
though. You will have so much to tell people when you return home from your out of the ordinary holiday to the Earth's least known continent at the end of the world.

Answers To Money And Shopping Questions While Cruising Europe

Money matters can be confusing when traveling but maybe this article will help you out.
We always take lots of single and five dollar bills with us on every cruise. They come in handy for taxis
tips for tour guides
tips for the staff
and little souvenirs at craft shops. They are handy if you run across a bartender on the ship that is really treating you well.

Europe has now changed to the Euro in many countries making it easier to travel from country to country. The countries that are now using that currency are: Austria
Belgium
Finland
France
Germany
Greece
Holland
Ireland
Italy
Luxembourg
Portugal
Spain
Andorra
Monaco
San Marino
The Vatican
Martinique
Guadalupe
Montenegro
and Kosovo.

Thanks to the miracle of the ATM machine
it is now easier that ever to get money in foreign countries. Use your ATM card in the machine to get the appropriate amount of money for the days you will be in each country. This eliminates carrying lots of Traveler’s Checks but take a few in case of emergencies. Never carry big wads of money no matter where you travel. It makes you an instant target.

Always keep in mind that you will be unable to reconvert coins so spend them liberally. It will be necessary to know the exchange rate so you can figure out how much you will need. If you are doing a cruise in the British Isles you may make three stops in Ireland so plan for three days of the local currency if you don’t want to keep finding an ATM machine.

If you are cruising around the Caribbean
every merchant takes dollars and credit cards
I recommend using Credit Cards. If you don’t use the above suggestion about using the ATM’s the ship will provide a service to change dollars into Euros or any other currency necessary. You should have some of the local money for buying small items such as soft drinks or a snacks
tips or local craft items. Any other purchases should be charged to your credit card because this protects you if there is something wrong with the item or it is not what it is purported to be.

The very best way to find out where the good shopping is
ask the crew. Some of the shops actually “sponsor” the cruise lines shopping lectures. The cruise lines will receive a commission from the stores they recommend. It’s a great big commercial to a captured audience
but if there is a problem the cruise lines will stick to their policy and get you a refund. So it’s a matter of comfort level
go on your own if you think you are savvy enough or go with the cruise lines recommendation to be safe.

The days at sea the cruise the ship’s boutiques will have “sales” so wait until then to see if what you want has been reduced.

If you know what you want to buy when you are cruising
check out the costs at home before you go
including the discount stores. Sometimes you can get a better deal at home with the comfort of knowing it’s returnable if it is defective.

If you buy perfume open the sealed box before you leave port to make sure the perfume has not evaporated. At one of the islands we visited I purchased some perfume and just out of curiosity opened it when we returned to the ship. The seal was still it tact but the bottle was three quarters empty. Since we were still in port I was able to return it to the store for another bottle.

I’d like to add just a word on traveling to different ports everyday and credit cards. When we were traveling in Europe I purchased several things in different ports on different days. By the third day the credit card company would no longer honor my card because they were suspicious of theft. For that reason
I always carry two credit cards and make sure both companies know I will be traveling extensively. This is a very good tip to know.

Follow this money and shopping advice and you should get along fine no matter which country you visit. Happy Cruising.

An Introduction To Bermuda Cruises

Monday 17 August 2009

If you are planning a cruise to Bermuda
there are certain important things which you must keep in mind. If you have not been to Bermuda before
bear in mind that it is not a big island. In fact
it doesn't take more than 24 hours to walk across the whole island.

Bermuda is around 120 miles north of the Caribbean Sea. It has a mild climate even during the winter months. Cruises to Bermuda are generally available between April and late October. There are certain cruises which keep on making trips until the end of December. However
they are relatively rare.

Your cruise ship could land in any one of the three ports at Bermuda
though it is most likely that you would stop in the port of Hamilton
as it has two shipping berths. It may happen that you visit more than one port on your Bermuda cruise trip.

The other port is known as St. George port. It is a historical port and attracts large numbers of tourists. Then there is the third port
at King's Wharf. This port has museums
galleries and popular restaurants
which makes it a famous cultural hub. Bermuda cruises often have a large number of tourists who often make return visits to Bermuda. This indicates the island’s popularity.

However
as it is a small island
restrictions are in place concerning the maximum number of cruise liners that can land here. Check out the limit before you book a Bermuda cruise. The bookings can be done online or over the telephone. There are many cruise liners to choose from. Your choice of a cruise liner depends on your budget and the kind of vacation you are looking to take. There are luxury liners for those who want to splurge
and cheaper liners for those on a tighter budget.

Amenities On Common Cruise Ships

Are you interested in taking a cruise? If so
you are not alone. Each year a large number of individuals consider vacationing aboard a cruise ship. If you have never been on a cruise ship before
you may be wondering what activities
facilities
and services can be found onboard. The activities found onboard a cruise ship will vary from ship to ship
but many cruise ships have a number of activities and services in common.

Some of the most well-known facilities found on cruise ships are dining halls
restaurants
and cafeterias. Large cruise ships may offer a number of onboard dining facilities. It is important to note that many of these dining facilities are considered upscale restaurants. In addition to a sit-down restaurant
there area usually a number of small eateries located onboard. Elegant dining restaurants are popular among cruisers. To ensure that you are able to enjoy an elegant meal
you are encouraged to schedule a reservation as soon as you board the ship.

Aside from dining facilities
bars and dancehalls are also found on most cruise ships. As with most of the bars and dancehalls found on land
there may be age restrictions in place. If you are traveling with your family
they may have to complete other activities while you enjoy the nightlight over the seas. If this should occur
you are in luck because most cruise ships have daycare centers and other activities geared towards children of all ages.

When it comes to placing your child in the care of a ship’s daycare center
you are urged to quickly familiarize yourself with the staff. This familiarization may help to calm your nerves. It is also important to note that cruise ship employees are often closely monitored
highly educated
and properly trained. While it may be difficult at first
you should feel comfortable leaving your child in the care of a cruise ship childcare worker.

Childcare is ideal for smaller children; however
if you are traveling with a teenager
daycare may not be an option. Swimming pools
libraries
video arcades
and movie theaters can often be found on cruise ships. Adult supervision is a policy that prevents children under a certain age from roaming freely around the ship.

Teenagers may be able to visit these facilities without adult supervision. Each cruise ship is likely to have different adult supervision policies. You are encouraged to review these policies before purchasing your tickets.

In addition to the above mentioned bars and dancehalls
gaming halls or casinos can be found on most cruise ships. As with gambling on land
there are age limits on those that can gamble aboard a cruise ship. Popular gambling activities include slots
blackjack
poker
and much more. Many onboard casinos are open for business twenty-four hours a day. Gambling is a popular cruise ship pastime. If you are booking a cruise just to gamble
you may want to further explore the gambling options aboard each ship.

Cruise ship operators know that many travelers take a cruise to escape their daily routines. Unfortunately for some
one routine that cannot be left behind is exercise. That is why almost all cruise ships have onsite fitness centers and fully equipped gyms. These gyms are often similar
and sometimes even better
than the gyms found in your hometown. In addition to a fitness center
a large number of cruise ships have jogging tracks.

If a particular activity or event is the only reason why you are interested in booking a cruise
you are urged to physically check for that event or activity before making your reservation. The above mentioned services
facilities
and activities are found on a number of popular cruise lines. These cruise lines are likely to include
but are not limited to
Carnival Cruise Lines
Paradise Cruises
Royal Caribbean
and Celebrity Cruises. With the click of a mouse or a toll free phone call
you can easily determine if your favorite activities can be found aboard the cruise ship of your choice.
